D2 contact window

D3 and NAIA programs have no NCAA-imposed contact window — coaches at those divisions can email, call, and text at any time, and athletes should reach out proactively.
How many times a D2 soccer coach may contact you
A "contact" is not what most families assume, and that misreading is usually what makes a recruiting timeline feel quieter than it is.
- A contact is a face-to-face encounter beyond an exchange of greetings — including a coach positioning themselves where contact is possible. The definition is the same as D1's.
- An evaluation is any off-campus activity assessing academic or athletic qualifications, including a visit to your school or watching you compete.
- Nothing here is being counted against a ceiling, so the distinction matters for a different reason than in D1: it tells you a coach may already have watched you several times without ever being required to speak to you.
D2 does not ration recruiting at all. Where D1 rations contacts, D2 sets ONE date and then stops counting.
There is no annual limit on in-person off-campus contacts or evaluations in D2. Once a coach may contact you — June 15 before your junior year — a D2 coach may contact you, watch you, and call you as often as they choose. Communication is permitted at any time.
Contact is barred at your competition site on a day you compete, until your competition is over and your coach has released you — this applies in every D2 sport, not just a named few (NCAA D2 Bylaw 13.1.4.1 (2025-26 Division II Manual (8/30/25), read 2026-08-01; 13.1.4.1 day-of-competition restriction; .1.1 campus exception; .1.2 post-commitment exception)). In-person contacts and evaluations also stop during the signing-date dead period.
D2 sets no per-sport cap on how many coaches may recruit off campus. Recruiting must be done by authorized athletics staff who have passed the annual recruiting-rules certification, and boosters may not make off-campus contact (NCAA D2 Bylaw 13.1.2.1 (2025-26 Division II Manual (8/30/25), read 2026-08-01; 13.1.2.1 authorized staff only; 13.1.2.1.1 annual certification per 11.6.1.1; Article 11 carries no 11.7-style per-sport coach limit in D2)).

Signing a written offer of athletics aid — Class of 2028
Finding, not an omission. The National Letter of Intent program was eliminated by D1 Council Proposal No. 2024-55 on 2024-10-09; athletes now sign a written offer of athletics aid, with periods set by the formula previously used for NLI dates. The only signing grid the NCAA currently publishes is titled "2025-26 NCAA SIGNING DATES" (found under the 2026-27 compliance folder — the URL year is the folder, not the coverage), and it covers the Class of 2026 only. As of 2026-08-01 no primary source publishes a grid for the Class of 2028. Dates for your class would be our extrapolation of the formula, so we publish none. Check with your compliance office, or the NCAA grid for your senior year once it is released.
Checked against: "2025-26 NCAA SIGNING DATES" grid (ncaa.org), read 2026-08-01; the grid itself is the published dates; the defining bylaw was RENUMBERED from 13.02.10 to 13.02.13 in the 2026-27 Division I Manual (LSDBi report 90008, re-read 2026-08-01) with no change to the formula. There is no longer a National Letter of Intent. The D1 Council eliminated the NLI program on October 9, 2024 (Proposal No. 2024-55); athletes sign an institutional written offer of athletics aid instead.
