The Platform · Issue No. 04
Honest with you the whole way — including the moment that matters most.
Every recruiting service is happy to sell you hope up front. Prospecta is built to keep telling you the truth when there's a real offer on the table.
The Problem
The recruiting industry gets paid, then disappears.
For twenty years, families have had two options: pay $2,000–$6,000 for a sales-driven service whose "free evaluation" is really the pitch, or upload a profile to a database coaches openly ignore. Either way, the money changes hands early — and the moment your athlete actually needs judgment, when offers arrive and the decision is real, you're on your own. Neither option answers the questions that actually matter: Where does my kid honestly stand? Who's really recruiting them? And when an offer comes — is it the right one?
Who built this · The Founder
Marc Dorfman
Founder, Prospecta · Former D1 tennis · Top-20 USTA junior · ITF Jr. World #382
I played Division I tennis and spent 20+ years in financial services — a job that mostly came down to one question: is this actually worth what people are paying for it?
Then I became the parent of a competitive youth athlete and ran straight into the recruiting industry. It runs on selling anxious families hope: high-pressure sales calls, generic packages, and a bill that typically runs $2,000–$6,000. I talked to family after family who'd paid for it and come away with nothing they could actually use.
Prospecta is the advisor I wish I'd had — one that tells you honestly where your kid stands, what division is realistic, and exactly what to do next. No sales call. No $4,000 package. No telling you what you want to hear.
What we do
We're with you at every stage. Especially the last one.
The honest read.
A free, benchmarked Reality Report using the real metrics coaches recruit on — not an optimistic sales pitch. If your athlete profiles D2, we say D2.
The right targets.
A Reach/Target/Likely school list matched to the actual profile, plus roster-timing intelligence — who graduates before your athlete arrives and where a spot actually opens — built from our own crawler reading official athletics sites, not a bought list.
Rules you don't have to memorize.
Scout tracks every NCAA contact window, camp date, and signing deadline for your athlete's sport and division — and will never draft outreach that breaks them. One less way to accidentally cost your kid a spot.
Outreach that lands.
AI-drafted coach emails grounded in the real assessment, sent from your own inbox so coaches reply to you directly.
The decision that matters most.
Prospecta is built to stay through it. When offers come, the Offer Navigator compares them honestly — true four-year cost, roster-spot risk, the scholarship rules that quietly move the goalposts, and a one-page Decision Brief your family can actually decide on.
No conflicts · What we won't do
The lines we don't cross.
Every other recruiting service has a financial incentive to tell you what you want to hear. Here's what ours isn't.
- We don't sell showcases or camps.
- We don't earn referral fees from recruiting services.
- We don't have a premium tier that gives your athlete a higher score.
- We don't contact coaches on your behalf without your knowledge.
- We don't share your athlete's data with third parties.
What we do: charge $39/month for software you control, full stop.
Proof
Honest — and we can prove it.
Real outcomes, in public.
We grade every Scout prediction in public — hits and misses — and show where families land as outcomes come in. View the receipts → See our track record →
Scored in the open.
Every Scout prediction carries a confidence level and a public track record. When we're unsure, we say so.
Our own data.
The coach directory and roster intelligence are built by our own crawler from official athletics sites and refreshed on a schedule — not a stale purchased database.
See where your athlete actually stands — free, in 6 minutes. And know we'll still be here, telling you the truth, when the offer's on the table.
